In Spain, Barcelona’s main opera house re-opened for a live classical concert performed to a theatre full of…. flowering plants! No social distancing needed: every seat – 2,292 in all - was filled while the UceLi Quartet played Giacomo Puccini’s I Crisantemi (Chrysanthemums). It was live-streamed for humans too. We can imagine the blossoms swaying gently to the rhythm.
Here in the U.S., The Metropolitan Opera will stream its encore performances for free throughout the duration of its closure. Tune in at 7:30 pm or listen anytime during the 20 hours after each performance. Details here: www.metopera.org.
