We were spending the weekend in the Berkshires when we came across a beautiful creative couple that had transplanted themselves from New York to the Berkshires. This dynamic couple has been creating custom furniture and cheese boards from their outpost in the Berkshires. We are sure that you will love each individual handcrafted design.
About This Designer
Joshua & Kristen Kanter are a husband and wife design team born & bred in Brooklyn, NY. Sharing a love of the arts, design and a desire to establish a custom furniture company we relocated to the Berkshires in 2004. After enjoying many years of focusing solely on furniture making we were inspired to create a collection of functional and unique wooden homewares to complement our furniture designs.
Working side by side in our Great Barrington, MA studio, using a well-seasoned artistic eye, we create functional homewares that add character and beauty to any home. Our collections are made up of one of a kind heirloom quality cutting, cheese and serving boards, often lauded for their organic beauty and custom non-toxic finishes.
“We handcraft all of our designs using locally sourced wood and reclaimed materials. Each piece of raw wood is hand-selected by us then meticulously sanded, shaped and finished with our non-toxic board oil. The design of our cheese and cutting board collection is inspired by the shape of an artist’s palette and is lightweight for serving and presentation. Since all of our boards are handcrafted from durable wood species they can be used for both cutting and serving. Our one of a kind serving trays feature handles crafted from authentic railroad spikes salvaged from the woods surrounding our home.”says Kristen Kater.
