Dear HipSilvers

Gail Bruce, Founder of HipSilver
Dear HipSilvers,
It has been quite a journey since HipSilver was founded in 2017. At that time no one in the marketing, advertising, media, sales, or the promotion industries were even thinking about or acknowledging that there was an older generation. Fashion designer Ralph Lauren would occasionally pop an elder statesman type man in the back row of a wealth dynasty photo advertisement in an upscale magazine. But that was it…
AARP was the first to even address the issue. When their magazine/newsletter arrived in one’s mailbox every one of us tried to hide or refused it. It confirmed our worst suspicions and signaled the beginning of old age.
I looked at myself, my friends, and then their friends, and realized we were breaking new ground. No generation had ever lived to this age, and we needed help to adjust… so I decided to “fill a need” and be part of the vanguard to light the way. Plus the idea of making the silver age “hip” was very appealing to me.
A team was put together and we were off and running. A year into it and just starting to get our footing with 150,000 followers - my husband, lover, partner, and best friend was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer and died. A few months later, the pandemic kick in, and everything came to a screeching halt.
During the isolation of the pandemic my HipSilver thoughts began to look more toward: how to survive, know your options, and where to find the best health care, instead of making the Silver Age HIP. That’s when Dr. Danya came on board to introduce you to health options and new methods of treatment. Eating for Health, Stem Cell and Lymph Drainage were all early topics.
As we limped into recovery, I realized my whole world had changed and so had I. What had mattered before was no longer relevant and I had to redesign my existence, my environment, and my survival agenda. Therefore, I have been discarding, rearranging and rewriting my future, and I am proud to say HipSilver.com is no longer relevant.
In the last few years, the new management and editorial content of AARP has brought it to the forefront in helping, with style, content, and community engagement, while creating an even stronger voice for the Silver Age.
The advertising, marketing, and sales communities have finally recognized and embraced the fact that the Silver Age is here, growing, and a very viable market.
We are now recognized and in good hands. So, I now feel that HipSilver.com’s time as a selling site has come to an end. The website will remain until the end of the year for any last-minute information, and I will continue as I have been, using the Silver Bulletin to inform, engage and speak about topics that impact the Silver Age and those coming behind us. Any products that we considered valuable, will be linked directly to the product site and one can purchase them directly from the manufacturer.
Thank you for your support over these last few years. I now ask for and encourage you to participate and interact with me on the Silver Bulletin, our newsletter, to share any validated information you may have to benefit the Silver Age and to offer your comments on what is shared in the Silver Bulletin. I am available and listening.
