Robin Hilliard
Introduction by Gail Bruce
I have known Robin Hilliard for over 30 years, and she has been designing and making jewelry as long as I’ve known her. I admire her taste and think she has a wonderful eye for jewelry and for the natural materials in the Southwest where she lives. She made a set of jingle earrings for me for ceremonial purposes that I still wear to this day. Robin will be bringing the best of regional artists to HipSilver.
Robin Hillard
Robin was trained as an artist and designer at The Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City. While at FIT, she worked on Seventh Avenue before branching out on her own. She designed clothing and accessories under her label, ROBINA, for stores such as Bloomingdale’s and Henri Bendel.
She is a gifted designer and has created jewelry for galleries, such as Krueger Gallery in NYC, and accessories and crafts for Woman’s Day and Ladies’ Home Journal Magazines. She had an interior design firm for over twenty years, working on residential and commercial projects until she relocated to Santa Fe, New Mexico.
Drawn to the artists community and the beauty of the New Mexico landscape, she worked in art galleries and as an assistant buyer of accessories for Block Mercantile and Santa Fe Modern. She is a dedicated jeweler, working in silver, gold, and semi-precious stones as well as naturally-shed deer antler.
